A Mahogany Carver Chair of the Chippendale Period About 1760
Chair Repair
Chair Repair: A particularly graceful example of the ladder-back chair which became popular during the Chippendale period.
The curved and pierced slats in the back are shaped in plan as well as in elevation.
The chair arrived in one piece, but in a dilapidated condition.
It proved necessary to dismantle the chair completely, as the cresting rail was broken at both ends and had been stuck with a modern adhesive.
The back upright RHS and arm were completely shattered.
Various areas of the chair, were so badly damaged, that patches had to be made, shaped, and fitted.
