Furniture Repair. All aspects of furniture repair, restoration and conservation are undertaken in our busy workshop by a West Dean trained craftsman. Bruce was at West Dean in the full-time furniture restoration course almost 30 years ago. Since then he has had the pleasure of restoring all kinds of furniture locally both antique and modern. Using traditional techniques he is happiest in his Repair Shop surrounded by wood shavings and French polish.
I have repaired furniture for the Royle household (Queen Victoria’s Pugin Bench now in the care of HRH Prince Charles), Admiral Nelson’s Chair, Winston Churchill war room table, too many to list.
Repairs such as loose joints, drawer runners, splits, etc. Making new legs, bun feet, rails, etc. Replacing handles, knobs, casters, Matching and making new moldings, flaps, chair arms, rails, tabletops, legs, etc.
Polishing and finishes, Bruce can strip old damaged finishes where necessary but will always endeavor to retain the finish where possible. French polish is our specialty.
Veneers, inlays, and marquetry. We can tackle these too. Replacing and repairing inlay, stringing, etc. We will replace missing veneers, matching the existing ones.
Upholstery. All upholstery is undertaken. From dining chair seats to sofas, easy chairs we can tackle these repairs alongside our expert upholstery team.
Cabinetmaking.
